important picVirus Removal

Ever wondered why you have taken your computer to some repairperson to remove a virus only to get another one shortly after that? We are going to give you information that no computer repair tech would want you to know. In order to understand how this system of cat and mouse works, you will have to learn a little about why viruses exist. In the past, hackers created viruses to cause havoc! One day you might see a devil looking person on your computer screen, or your computer would turn off unexpectedly, or all of your files were suddenly deleted; but these days we don’t notice viruses on our computer. We generally only notice a virus because something suddenly stops working or our virus scanner tells us. Why is this?

1.Financial Gain – The main reason viruses and spyware are created are for financial reasons. A hacker might want to use your computer to click an add on another web site so they can make money from it or they might use your computer along with thousands of other computers to be used to attack a web site by constantly bombarding it. This is called a denial of service attack and it is used to overwhelm a web site so that other people cannot view the site. Hackers have been known to threaten sites with denial of service attacks in exchange for money. With the ability to make money, hackers do not want you to know there is a virus on your computer.

2. Nature of the virus world – There are literally thousands of viruses created a year and many are not always known of right away. Microsoft and anti-virus software companies are always on their heels trying to fix any holes and create patches for viruses.  Often when Microsoft fixes a vulnerability for Windows, hackers create a virus based on that flaw hoping that people do not update their systems. Always update your system!

3. Too Many Viruses – There are just too many viruses to track and fix. You may be able to scan and find a virus but the virus may have been a gateway to many other viruses that are not known. You may have successfully removed a virus with antivirus software, but your system may have more viruses without the antivirus software knowing.

4. New Virus Technology – The past few years have been interesting. The development of “Rootkit” technology has really made virus removal hard. A Rootkit is software that masks itself as a Windows component and it really digs deep into the core of a Windows system. There are Rootkit revealer software to find and remove Rootkits, but when you remove found them, they often take vital windows components with them which may make the Windows operating system unstable.
Prevention – Your behavior is the key to not getting viruses. Don’t open e-mail attachments, only browse to web sites you trust, use Firefox as your web browser, and use a Router in front of your internet connection even if you only have one computer.

How to Remove Viruses – Ok so you know you have a virus! What do you do? Don’t waste your money on a virus removal from a computer repair store. The fact is, if you think your system has been compromised, there is no real way to tell if your system is clean. If you remove a virus from your computer, how do you know if there are others that the antivirus does not know about? A system restore is the only true way to remove a compromised system. Backup your data and do a full system restore. Then before you do anything, put your computer behind a router and update your system until there are no more updates.

Recommended Antivirus - Big PC Geek suggests Nod32 Antivirus. Nod32 is Antivirus only, it does not slow down your computer with extra baggage which means it slows down your computer considerably less then other Antivirus programs. Nod32 is also proactive with computer scanning by physically looking for changes on your system rather than waiting for updates as do other antivirus programs. Remember, you can have only one Antivirus software program on your computer otherwise your system will become unstable. We hope you choose Nod32 by esset.
