Welcome to the security section of our site. Here you will learn the fundamental elements that are key to keeping your windows computer safe. To keep things simple, we have categorized computer security into offense, defense, social engineering, and backing up data. Most of the information in the computer security pages is based on Windows XP, but most suggestions will also work with Windows Vista. If you have Windows Vista, you may notice some of the suggestions are already included with the operating system, and this is true, Windows Vista was designed to be the most secure operating system from Microsoft ever. So far, Windows Vista seems to be much more secure than Windows XP, but it is far too early to relax.

Another point to make is that it is not just Windows computers that can get viruses. Yes Macs can get viruses too! What is the difference? Macs are inherently secure than all versions of Windows before Vista and Windows makes up the biggest computer market share. If you were going to write a virus, would you make it affect a few computers or would you make it affect the most possible computers. Most virus authors don't bother to write a virus for a Mac because it will have little affect in the world.
